Comprehensive Sailing Course

This course is designed for sailors of all levels, whether they are enthusiasts of racing or coastal or offshore cruising. It will be held at our facilities and on our boats, with the quality and experience that characterize us at Nautipol Yacht Group.

Course Content

Taught by our expert instructors, the course covers everything from basic sailing introduction concepts to advanced rigging and sail trimming techniques. Additionally, we offer meteorology courses at different levels to complement your training.

Level 1 - Fundamentals (4 hours of theory and 6 hours of practice)

Theory

• Introduction to sailing: Types of sailboats and parts of a sailboat.
• Principles of sailing: Boat movement, types of wind, sail configuration.
• Sailing equipment: Types of sails, rigging, knots, and boat polars.

Practice

• Route planning according to weather conditions.
• Sail handling: Hoisting, lowering, and reefing.
• Sailing with light winds and wind reading techniques.
• Tacking and gybing maneuvers.
• Safety maneuvers: Heaving to and sail furling.

Level 2 - Advanced (8 hours of practice)

Theory

• Review of Level 1.
• Sailing in adverse weather conditions.
• Fore sails: Gennaker, Spinnaker, Code Zero, storm jib, jib.

Practice

• Refinement of sail trimming on different courses.
• Boom retention techniques for long passages or solo sailing.
• Maintaining course on a run and broad reach, and techniques for wing-on-wing sailing.
• Management of accidental luffs and bearing away.
• Effective use of fore sails in navigation.
