The Recreational Boat Skipper (PER) is the most well-known and sought-after recreational title, allowing coastal navigation in boats up to 15 meters in length and up to 12 nautical miles from the coast. This title does not require any prior qualifications. To obtain it, you need to pass a multiple-choice theoretical exam conducted by the Xunta de Galicia and complete the mandatory practices at Nauticalyachts, a certified school. This title is ideal for those who wish to navigate as a skipper in both motor and sailboats.
Requirements:
- Be over 18 years old, or over 16 years old at the time of taking the theoretical exam with parental permission.
- Pass the corresponding theoretical exam.
- Complete 16 hours of basic safety and navigation practices for PER.
- Complete the radio course, Short Range Operator, of 12 hours.
- Pass a psychotechnical test.
