Basic Navigation Pattern (PNB)

The Basic Navigation Skipper (PNB) license allows you to operate vessels up to 8 meters in length and navigate up to 5 miles from the coast. This license includes a course to prepare for a theoretical exam, which is held in four annual sessions organized by the Xunta de Galicia. Additionally, mandatory motor practices and a radio course must be completed, which do not require an exam. It is also possible to complete a 16-hour sailing practice to qualify for sailing vessels.
Requirements:
- Be over 18 years old, or over 16 years old at the time of taking the theoretical exam.
- Pass the corresponding theoretical exam.
- Complete 8 hours of basic safety and navigation practices for PNB.
- Complete a 4-hour PNB radiocommunications course (2 theoretical and 2 practical).
- Pass a psychotechnical test.
